Summary
The Inpatient-Diabetes Educator possesses comprehensive knowledge of and experience in prediabetes, diabetes prevention and management. The CDE educates and supports people affected by diabetes to understand and manage the condition. Education typically occurs during hospitalization or in a group outpatient setting. The Inpatient Diabetes Educator utilizes diabetes self-management education (DSME) strategies to develop an individual assessment and education plan developed collaboratively with the individual. The Inpatient Diabetes Educator reports to the Practice Administrator.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelor's Degree: BSN, Masters' degree in Nursing or Registered Dietician (RD) or Nutritionist.
- Two (2) or more years job related experience.
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Registered Nurse in State of Georgia
- Certification as Diabetes Educator (CDE) by the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE) or willingness to complete within one year.
- Applicable licensure and certification must be current and active for the state of Georgia.
- Registered Dietician Certification
