What are the responsibilities and job description for the SOCIAL WORKER III/Permanency Planning position at Graham County Department of Social Services?
Work in this class involves providing intensive social work services in serious and complicated cases which require the flexible use of a wide range of social work skills and intervention techniques. Work is performed and supervised under the Social Work Supervisor. The normal work schedule includes Monday-Friday 8-5;
After-Hours On-Call Coverage - serves as primary on-call social worker on a rotating schedule.
Essential Functions:
This position will be responsible for providing case management services for children, ages 0-21, who are removed from their parents/caretakers because of abuse, neglect, or dependency. This worker will offer services to parents to include making any needed community referrals, making home visits, taking parents for random drug screens, transporting parents to and from appointments. The employee will work with family/caretakers to develop a detailed primary plan to allow the family to be reunified and an alternative plan if reunification fails. The worker in this position must also ensure that all the child’s needs are met. This includes transporting children to be enrolled in school, to medical/mental health appointments, scheduling and supervising visits between children and their parents, arranging for and supervising sibling visitation. This position also works closely with the court system and must attend all court reviews pertaining to the children in their caseload. The person in this position is responsible for preparing court reports for the judge to review and make recommendations concerning permanency. This position requires a person who is self-motivated, well-organized, flexible, able to multi-task, has effective communication skills, verbal/written, likes to travel (90% of the work for this position is out in the field.
Master's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution; or
· Master's degree in a human services field and one year of directly related experience; or
· Bachelor's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution; or
· Bachelor's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of directly related experience; or
· Bachelor's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years directly related experience; or
· Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience.
