Graham County Schools is seeking a dedicated Exceptional Children’s Behavior Liaison who will support students with disabilities by implementing effective behavioral interventions and foster a positive learning environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborates with educators to create behavior intervention plans tailored to individual student needs.
- Performs functional behavior assessments to identify underlying causes of behavioral challenges.
- Works directly with students to reinforce positive behaviors and address issues as they arise.
- Offers training to staff and parents on behavior management techniques.
- Serves as a consultant to ensure consistent implementation of interventions.
- Maintains accurate records of behavioral incidents and interventions.
- Analyzes data to assess the effectiveness of behavior plans and makes necessary adjustments.
- Participates in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, and parent conferences.
- Stays current with best practices, instructional strategies, and legal requirements.
- Participates in school-based and district-level professional development.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with teachers, parents, and students.
Education and Experience
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or related field.
- North Carolina Teaching License in Special Education (or eligibility for licensure).
- Knowledge of IDEA, NC Policies Governing Services for Children with Disabilities, and IEP compliance requirements.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Experience with a variety of disabilities, including learning disabilities, behavioral disorders, autism, and intellectual disabilities preferred.
