The purpose of this position is to provide quality instruction in health and physical education, manage a comprehensive football program, and maintain efficient administration of Graham County Schools athletic programs. The ideal candidate will pay a crucial role in promoting healthy lifestyles, physical fitness, and overall well-being among our students. Work is performed under the supervision of the principal.
Duties and Responsibilities
PE Responsibilities:
- Develops lesson plans, teaching classes and skills for physical activity.
- Helps students develop life skills and promote physical fitness.
- Creates a positive learning environment, teamwork, sportsmanship, and community activities.
- Establishes the role of physical activity director, guiding students, and celebrating accomplishments, and ensuring safety in a dynamic physical environment.
- Collaborates with colleagues to enhance the school's physical education program.
- Creates a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student engagement, participation, and personal growth.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Varsity Football Head Coach Responsibilities:
- Develops and manages a comprehensive football program that promotes teamwork, discipline, personal growth, and athletic achievement. The coach will foster a positive and inclusive environment while teaching fundamental skills.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Athletic Director Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the efficient administration of the school’s athletic program and reports to the principal on all matters related to the athletic program.
- Corresponds with other schools and the NCHSAA as necessary to conduct athletic business.
- Represents the school at all home athletic events, team meetings, athletic conference meetings, and district and state meetings.
- Organizes, prepares for, and serves as administrator for all home contests, unless alternate arrangements are made with the principal.
- Responsible for management of Final Forms and DragonFly.
- Serves as the point of contact for issues of concern regarding the athletic program for parents, teachers, student-athletes, and the community at large.
- Oversees all athletic teams’ eligibility, athletic facilities, transportation, and finances, making sure that each team’s schedule conforms to school rules and conference requirements, and making sure all local and state rules are followed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate clearly in written and electronic formats; as well as, in-person.
- Ability to use a computer or other electronic devices for the purpose of communication, instruction, data recording, and location of information.
- Ability to collaborate with district staff to identify and solve problems.
- Ability to demonstrate patience and compassion when dealing with students and/or parents and their personal and educational needs.
- Skill in identifying student learning and personal needs and collaborating with other professionals to provide needed resources or interventions.
Education and Experience
Requirements
Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold a current NC Teaching Certification in Physical Education.
Salary
State Salary Schedule with local stipends.
