Title of position: Justice Court Clerk Supervisor
Position type: Full-time
Annual Salary: $48,203-$50,131 *Dependent on experience.*
Location: Graham County Justice Court

Essential Job Functions:
· Supervises Justice of the Peace Court Clerk and Justice Court Finance Clerk.
· Assists the Judge in Staffing decisions and personnel evaluations.
· Trains and supervises the training of Justice of the Peace office staff to ensure competency and to ensure compliance with Supreme Court COJET requirements.
· May act as Initial Appearance Master to perform Initial Appearances for criminal defendants as needed to assist the Justice of the Peace and other judges in the county.
· Prepares and applies for JCEF, FTG and other grants for Justice of the Peace office.
· Assists the Judge in managing defense attorney appointments for indigent criminal defendants.
· Prepares and transcribes dictation and detailed legal recordings and documents.
· Prepares and manages the Judge’s calendar.
· Coordinates with other Justices of the Peace and Justices of the Peace Pro Tempore to perform judicial functions when Justice of the Peace is out of the office.
· Manages online court payments and coordinates with third party vendors to facilitate debit/credit card payments.
· Assists the public either on the phone or over the counter in the use of court forms, document filing procedures and other such matters requiring the application of technical/legal/judicial procedures and practices.
· Receives and completes orders for services/materials from public or employees.
· Evaluates need for service and directs individuals/calls to appropriate office.
· Assists individuals in locating materials/information.
· Explains fees and fines.
· Responds to inquiries from the public, attorneys, case witnesses and law enforcement representatives.
· Gathers information needed to respond to inquiries by researching case status, case documents and the notations or rules/procedures/codes on specific questions which requires distinguishing between, and consideration of sensitive/protected public information.
· May be required to understand or interpret legal documents; legal/court procedure regarding case/processing and status.
· Make copies of files as requested in accordance with department policy.
· Assist in the processes of Tax Intercept Monies and assists with processing FARE monies.
· Establish and provide monthly progress reports to the Judge.
· Researches and compiles data in preparation for audits.
· Provides information and/or assistance to auditors as required.
· Perform bailiff duties for the office.
· Assists with courtroom duties and fill out documents for the judge, attorneys as needed.
· Assures paperwork is attached and copies were sent to all parties involved.
· Distributes cases for sentencing and notifies victim advocate for victim’s notification.
· Customer Service at the Counter and by phone.
· Upon assisting with receipting balances drawer and validates other cashier’s drawers.
· Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED and three years of progressively responsible administrative office experience in the legal field. Postsecondary education related to the development of legal clerical skills may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
