Job Purpose: The General Manager in Training is responsible to learn all aspects of leading and driving effective store operations and assisting the General Manager in achieving all company objectives. The GMIT will assist the District Manager(DM)/General Manager (GM) to manage resources efficiently to drive business and maximize productivity meeting all standards of execution for customer service, signage and pricing, and merchandising. The GMIT is also responsible to assist the GM in people development culture. Promote and abide by the high standards of GEI and maintain regulatory and company compliances while upholding the highest standards of safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the DM/GM to develop and enhance the customer experience in our stores by fostering and maintaining a friendly positive attitude in all employees and drive store sales with hands on style leadership. Treat each customer as a guest in our stores.
Support the DM/GM with staffing the store appropriately to support the needs of the customers and the business. Proactively identify hiring needs and share responsibility to recruit and interview candidates.
Support the DM/GM with prioritizing and delegating work and effectively manage time through efficient scheduling and usage of labor hours.
Lead and support effective training of all new and existing associates.
Uphold the highest standards in store cleanliness and serviceability, execute in store site layouts, displays and in store stocking as well as plan-o-grams and retail processes to create an environment for an outstanding customer experience.
Demonstrate leadership, foster teamwork, show initiative and excitement for all store promotions and merchandising standards to facilitate sales growth in the store. Set the example for other store team members.
Consistently adhere to walk the store compliance standards.
Enhance and maintain good positive communication with customers, district managers, team of employees and vendors to enhance the performance and profitability of the store’s team and to continue to grow our customer base.
Support the GM to identify and resolve site issues and problems in a timely and positive manner. Efficiently and accurately processes sales transactions using the POS register system and adheres to checkout standards
Support the GM to improve processes, conduct store audits, reduce and prevent shrink and increase store profitability.
Perform any other duties that are assigned by management.
Skills/Qualifications:
At least 1-2 years of experience in a retail environment. Retail supervisory experience preferred.
Has a passion for customer service while utilizing exceptional people skills and have a desire to excel in everything you do.
Required to have flexible schedule and work min of 35 - 40 hours per week as per the needs of the business.
Proven and consistently demonstrated skills and abilities in the following –
- Punctual and dependable
- Exceptional customer service
- Positive attitude and effective communication
- Ability to quickly learn, multitask and adapt to change.
Basic computer literacy in computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. Ability to multi-task, run a cash register, process transactions, and run store equipment.
Maintain a disciplined approach to managing, training and developing store team in daily work duties and responsibilities.
Ability to relocate locally
Uphold company standards in personal appearance, work ethic, store cleanliness and customer service.
Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs.
Ability to lift items, bend and work on your feet during your work shifts
Have a can- do and team building attitude in everything you do while working at a GEI store.
