Graham Packaging is looking for an entry level assembly technician for our Machinery Group located at our Technical Center in York, PA. The role primarily involves the assembling of rotary blow-mold machinery while also providing mechanical support to our production facilities. Up to 50% Travel (including international) to Graham Packaging manufacturing plants for machinery commissioning, debugging, and problem solving.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The primary duties of the Assembly Technician include:
- This position collaborates with Area Leads to accomplish different aspects of the assembly and build phases to adhere to production schedules.
- Read and interpret Engineering drawings, following instructions to build machinery that operates according to company requirements.
- Full adherence to the established safety regulations is mandatory.
- Help organize and arrange incoming equipment and parts to maintain assembly production flow.
- Maintain workshop area, ensuring cleanliness, and stock components and materials.
- Execute preventative maintenance of tools and equipment in workshop.
- Conduct tests, making provisional repairs, or replacing parts of faulty machine components.
- Disassemble outdated machines and salvage usable parts.
- Engage in rigging to handle large and heavy components.
- Conduct quality inspections of individual components and assembled units.
- Involved in painting and finishing of machine components.
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Attend internal design reviews.
- Provide feedback to management for technical innovations.
- Follow “Standard Operating Procedures” as they apply.
- Travel to Graham Packaging manufacturing plants for machinery commissioning, debugging, and problem solving.
- Support various departments within the Technical Center when needed.
- Participate in mandatory corporate training activities.
- Up to 50 percent travel (including international) will be expected
Qualifications
Core Proficiencies and Skills
The following skills and proficiencies are desirable for the position:
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
- Ability to operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and overhead cranes.
- Able to read technical specifications, machine manuals, and blueprints effectively.
- Excellent mathematical skills and strong attention to detail.
- Assist electrical engineers with electrical panel installation and wiring.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with machine build team.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of LOTO safety.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe, SAP is a plus.
- Knowledge of hydraulics and electro / mechanical systems is a plus.
- Experience with AutoCAD or 2D schematic CAD software a plus.
- Familiar with pneumatics (air and water), hydraulics, AC/DC motors, PLCs & HMIs, Servo motors a plus.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
- Technical School or equivalent experience of industrial machinery assembly/maintenance experience.
- Experience with manual machining practices(mill/lathe) and fabrication equipment (vertical/horizonal bandsaws, grinding, Mig welding).

The expected salary range for the position described in this posting is made in accordance with the legal mandates of certain jurisdictions within the United States. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience.Benefits Statement
