Graham Packaging is looking for an experienced rotary blow-molder technician for our Machinery Group located at our Technical Center in York, PA. The role primarily involves the assembling of rotary blow-mold machinery while also providing technical support to our global facilities. 25% domestic Travel (potentially international) to Graham Packaging manufacturing plants for machinery commissioning, debugging, and problem solving is required.
Responsibilities
The primary duties of the Rotary Blow Mold Machine Technician include:
- This position collaborates with Area Leads to accomplish different aspects of the assembly and build phases to adhere to production schedules.
- Ensure that machinery operates according to company requirements.
- Full adherence to the established safety regulations is mandatory.
- Help organize and arrange incoming equipment and parts to maintain assembly production flow.
- Maintain workshop area, ensuring cleanliness, adequate levels of stock components and materials, and proper maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Diagnose and fix faulty machine components, making provisional repairs, or replacing parts.
- Disassemble outdated machines and salvage usable parts.
- Perform preventative maintenance on shop machinery by noticing and fixing potential problems, replacing worn components, and lubricating parts.
- Fundamentals in rigging to handle large and heavy components.
- Conducting quality inspections of individual components and assembled units.
- Painting and finishing of machine components.
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Attend internal design reviews.
- Assist electrical engineers with wiring inspections, startup, and testing.
- Install and connect electrical panels following guidance from engineers.
- Support the startup of equipment and machinery at production and testing sites.
- Interpret mechanical blueprints and use the bill of materials to carry out assembly tasks.
- Evaluate plant feedback to recognize continuous improvement opportunities
- Provide feedback to management for technical innovations
- Follow “Standard Operating Procedures” as they apply
- Travel to Graham Packaging manufacturing plants for machinery commissioning, debugging, and problem solving.
- Provide remote support for mechanical machinery issues at existing plant facilities
- Support various departments within the Technical Center when needed
- Work closely with our Global Technical Training Department to further develop processes and materials related to Rotary Blow Molding equipment
- Participate in mandatory corporate training activities
- 25% percent domestic travel (potentially international) will be expected
Qualifications
Core Proficiencies and Skills
The following skills and proficiencies are desirable for the position:
- Proficient in following stringent safety protocols and aware of potential safety hazards.
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools,
- Skilled in operating forklifts, aerial lifts, and overhead cranes
- Proficiency in mechanical technical skills to read specifications, machine manuals, and blueprints effectively.
- Excellent mathematical skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively through ongoing interactions with colleagues and stakeholders, including Engineers, Managers, and Part Vendors, among others.
- Extensive knowledge of rotary blow molding systems
- Strong communication skills
- Advanced mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of LOTO safety
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, Adobe and SAP is a plus
- Knowledge of hydraulics and electro / mechanical systems is a plus
- Experience with AutoCAD or 2D schematic CAD software a plus
- Electrical panel assembly a plus
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
- 10 years of industrial machinery assembly/maintenance experience
- Hands-on experience in building, setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting rotary blow molding machinery
- Familiar with all systems related to blow molding equipment: pneumatics (air and water), hydraulics, AC/DC motors, PLCs & HMIs, Servo motors, etc
- Experience with manual machining practices(mill/lathe) and fabrication equipment (vertical/horizonal bandsaws, grinding, Mig welding)
