What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Cattle Caretaker/Equipment Operator position at Grain & Livestock?
Large corn, soybean, hay and beef cattle operation located in east central Missouri is looking for someone with experience in cow/calf, feedlot, and general farming operations to fill the position of Lead Cattle Herdsman/Equipment Operator as soon as possible.
We are a family-owned farming operation looking to hire someone who is thinking long-term employment with an opportunity to learn and grow with the business. We are looking to hire immediately.
We are looking for a motivated employee with previous verifiable experience in farming and large-scale beef cattle production. Knowledge of cattle and feedlots is a must. This employee will be preparing and feeding cattle rations, performing daily herd checks, hands on during calving season, and operating feed equipment and trucks. This individual will be assisting in all aspects of a commercial beef herd and helping with crop and hay production as necessary. Good animal health skills are needed. Must be able to carry out routine maintenance on equipment. Must be willing to work in whatever position needed. Will be responsible for care and upkeep of fences and facilities. Fence building, maintenance, and mechanical skills are definitely preferred in a candidate. Horses are not used on the farm.
A self-starter with excellent time management skills, a good work ethic, and positive attitude are a must.
Hours will vary with the seasons. Candidates must have the ability to work extended hours, 7 days a week, during peak seasons. Off season work schedule is not as demanding, but there is still a full-time amount of work available.
