What are the responsibilities and job description for the Valley Kids Before and After School Facilitator - Part Time position at Grain Valley R-5 School District?
Grain Valley Schools is currently seeking dependable, dedicated individuals to serve as Before/After School Facilitators for the school year. This position will provide support to the program with specific responsibility for organizing and directing age-appropriate activities for school age students; serving snacks, providing assistance with homework as needed, and assisting in maintaining a clean and safe environment for students.
Responsibilities
- Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings for the purpose of providing a safe, fun and positive environment
- Arranges designated areas with instructional and/or play materials for the purpose of providing required supplies to support goals
- Communicates effectively with parents, staff, and students to share positive behavior, build rapport, and encourage open communication
- Assists the Site Lead in researching, planning, and implementing age appropriate enrichment activities with individual or small groups of students
- Attends meetings and professional developments as needed for the purpose of acquiring information relative to job functions
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the site lead and/or department director
Job Requirements
- Prior experience supervising children in a camp, educational or daycare program is preferred
- Ability to develop appropriate relationships with children, coworkers and parents
- Have a sincere interest in working with children
- Reliable and dependable to work scheduled hours
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate appropriately with students, staff members and parents
- Ability to be flexible in working with others in a variety of different circumstances
- Ability to lift, bend and keep pace with children during their workday
- Demonstrated ability to handle information with utmost confidentiality
Work Environment
Program is open from 6:30 - 9:00 am and 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Full-days will be required to accommodate school schedules and inclement weather days
Staff may be scheduled up to 40 hours per week during July and August to accommodate a full day summer program
