Individual base pay compensation will depend, in part, on factors such as geographic work location and relevant experience and skills.The anticipated compensation range described above is subject to change and the compensation ultimately paid may be higher or lower than the range described above.Grainger reserves the right to amend, modify, or terminate its compensation and benefit programs in its sole discretion at any time, consistent with applicable law.Position DetailsThe Data Engineer will report to the Manager of Analytic Enablement and play a pivotal role within the Data and Analytics team. The OST Analytic Enablement team's primary mission is to enable high-quality analytics and reporting by centralizing and integrating trusted, high-quality data within a performant and scalable cloud platform.In this role, the Data Engineer will design and develop data pipelines and products in a modern cloud environment. Collaborating closely with subject matter experts, architects, analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders, you will create solutions that centralize data into a unified repository, providing a holistic view of our operations.Key responsibilities include partnering with technical leaders to define architecture, develop automation processes, and implement modern data-serving patterns. This role will be required to be in the Lake Forest, IL office 2 days per week.You WillBuild required tools for extraction, transformation and loading of data from data sourcesBuild product features to allow self-service analytics.Develop and manage data workflow automation tooling like Airflow, and instrument modern data ingestion processes ensuring robust monitoring to deliver high quality data in a timely mannerDevelop and instrument data quality monitoring including automated check, alerting, and data dependency instrumentation.Assemble complex sets of data that meet requirements providing by non-technical partnersIdentify and design internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processesWork with partners including data, design, product and executive teams and assisting them with data-related technical issuesBring complex concepts into our organization and mentor others.You Have3 years of related experienceExperience Required : AWS, SQL, Python, Docker / Kubernetes, CI / CD, Git, Snowflake, dbt, AirflowSuccessful track record in developing and automating large-scale, high-performance data engineering systems (batch and streaming).Experience with both scripting and system programming languages (Python and Scala).Experience with microservices including defining and testing APIs Experience architecting, developing, and deploying both offline and online feature storesExperience leading data integration efforts of diverse formats of dataExperience partnering with internal departments (Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance, and HR) to establish requirements.We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender, gender identity or expression, or veteran status.
