What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Assistant Swimming Coach position at Granbury High School?

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To assist in the direction and management of the swimming program. Work to provide each student an opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities and ensure compliance with all state, University Interscholastic League (UIL) and local requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requirements:
All high school coaches must be full-time employees of the school district. EXCEPTION: A retired teacher/administrator who has 20 or more years of experience may serve as an assistant coach in all athletics and as a head coach for golf, tennis, team tennis, cross country, track and field, and swimming.
Education/Certification:
Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of the operation of an athletic program
Strong communication, public relation, and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of state and UIL policies governing athletics
Have or willing to obtain CDL license
Experience:
Three years of successful teaching and coaching experience
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Instructional Management
1. Assist with swimming program and other assigned duties.
2. Coach participants in the skills necessary for achievement.
3. Maintain an active program that promotes good sportsmanship and student development.
4. Supervise pre-meet drills.
5. Responsible for meet notes and statistics.
6. Supervise the dressing room at meet.
7. Call the various media personnel with game results.
8. Responsible for gathering, laundering and storing game uniforms.
School/Organizational Climate
9. Promote a positive, caring climate for learning.
10. Work with teachers to maintain proper behavior of athletes in the academic setting.
11. Keep records of students.
12. Understand the importance of being a role model.
13. Assist in the verification of student eligibility.
14. Take care of game officials – before, during, and after the game.
15. Inventory all equipment.
16. Supervise locker rooms.

17. Maintain competency in rules, rule interpretation, game procedure, coaching techniques, and general information about all aspects of the sport by attending various clinics.
