Job Goal: Granby Junior Senior High School is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Long-Term Substitute Teacher to join our team. This position will cover four sections of History and one section of English Language Arts (ELA) for students in grade 10 - 12. The anticipated duration of this role is from 08/25/25 to 11/26/25.
Supervision: Reports to the Building Principal
Education, Work Experience, and Licensure:
Required: MA DESE Certified Acceptable C.O.R.I. and fingerprint report as determined by the Superintendent.
Bachelor’s degree in History, English, or a related field.
Valid [MA] teaching certification preferred.
Previous teaching experience or experience in a substitute teaching role is highly desirable.
Strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt to different learning styles.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Prepare and deliver instructional lessons and units with clear and measurable outcomes
- Implement a variety of instructional techniques to ensure student engagement and achievement.
- Develop a clear and consistent grading rubric for courses.
- Design and demonstrate differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students
- Keep accurate and appropriate grading and attendance records.
- Develop positive relationships with students, parents and families.
- Implement accommodations and curricular modifications as specified in educational plans (IEPs) and as needed to meet the learning needs of students
- Use a variety of formal and informal assessments to accurately measure student progress toward and to modify further instruction.
- Integrate and apply relevant technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
- Evaluate each student's progress in math skills and understanding.
- Communicate with parents and counselors about the progress of individual students.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior.
- Use a computer and other technology to support student learning in and out of the classroom
- Provide students with support (remediation and enrichment) using a variety of strategies
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum, lesson/unit and assessment design
- Effectively manage classroom operations.
- Accept supervision and guidance from evaluators, coaches and other support personnel.
- Follow safety procedures and written and verbal instructions
