Montessori Classroom Assistant

Grand Blanc Montessori seeks a classroom assistant for our Primary Montessori environments. The position will work with children 16 months through 12 years of age. The applicant must be available between 8 am to 5 pm Monday-Friday.

The duties of classroom aides include:

• Maintaining a clean and hygienic classroom environment
• Checking and replenishing consumable classroom items at the beginning and end of every day
• Floating the classrooms as needed during class time as needed
• Monitoring transition times
• Helping children get dressed for outside play
• Monitoring the playground during outside play
• Assisting and guiding children during lunch
• Knowing the school's discipline procedure and helping implement it when appropriate
• Copying, cutting, laminating etc. as needed
• Monitoring nap in the primary and toddler classrooms
• Assisting children in bathroom learning
• Attending continued education classes

In addition, Classroom Aides agree to maintain CPR and basic first aid certification, know the school emergency procedures, and perform other duties not specifically stated as directed by teachers or the school‛s Head of School.

All staff members are expected to dress and act respectably and professionally. Candidate must be dependable, at least 18 years old and have previous experience working with children.

Candidates need not be Montessori trained, but experience with children, patience, and a willingness to learn is vital.
