The overall objective and purpose of the Banquet Captain are to coordinate and supervise all aspects of service relating to banquet functions. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that all standards are followed in order to provide the highest levels of service to our guests. They are to provide inspiring and strategic leadership while directing the activities of the banquet operation in support of the mission, core values, standards and goals established by the company.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIESPrimary areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide leadership and direction to the banquet team, ensuring that all banquet events are properly executed per the BEO and SOPs.
- Oversee the setup and tear down of banquet events.
- Thoroughly inspect the function set up prior to the event to ensure specifications have been executed.
- Requisition supplies such as glassware, china, and silverware.
- Assist the F&B Director in hiring Banquet Grand Performers.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws, including scheduling meal and rest breaks.
- Attend BEO meetings, internal pre, and post-con meetings.
- Assists with corrective action to continuously improve service results.
- Assists with interviews, schedules, training, coaching, and counseling, resolving problems, providing open communication, and recommending discipline when appropriate.
- Assigns duties, workstations, and responsibilities to personnel and directs their performance.
- Produce weekly schedules and monitors payroll system for accuracy.

- Knowledge of how to read and execute banquet event orders
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related training equivalent - required
- 1 years of relevant work experience in similar scope and title – required
- Experience within luxury brand/markets – required
- TIPS training certification – preferred or attained within 30 days
- Food Safety Certification – preferred or attained within 30 days
Supervisory and leadership responsibilities include achieving results through providing direction and accountability of the following Grand Performers within the culture and policies established by the Kessler Collection.
- Banquet Servers
- Banquet Utility
- Banquet Bartenders

- Must be comfortable working in a shared space, with constant noise, without the use of a private office.
- Must be able to cope with frequent changing priorities and deadlines with a high degree of optimism, professionalism & collaboration.
- Schedules may vary from week to week based on business demands in excess of 40 hours with or without notice.
