Position Summary:
Supervises a team of Janitors providing custodial services to all Grand Canyon West locations and facilities. Ensures that the team is providing outstanding customer service by providing duties such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping of floors, maintaining clean restroom facilities, and trash collection. Responsible in seeing that all janitorial equipment is in clean, safe and operable condition and that the team is using proper safety and health procedures in the use of all chemicals. Also responsible for general maintenance of grounds and detailing of fleet vehicles. Responsible for coordinating daily work schedules of team.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and interact with guests and staff in a clear, concise manner providing prompt, outstanding customer service.
- Ability to physically complete custodial duties such as vacuuming, mopping, cleaning and sanitizing rest room facilities, collecting trash, cleaning windows, cleaning vehicles and maintenance of grounds.
- Demonstrated knowledge of cleaning products and chemicals and proper safety and use policies and procedures. Ability to train others on products, chemicals, policies and procedures.
- Ability to routinely walk, stand, bend and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in outdoor environment for long periods of time.
- Demonstrated ability to foster a team environment, multi-task effectively and maintain positive working relationships.
- Ability to lead, coach, train and develop Janitorial team in all aspects of their jobs.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Direct supervision of Janitorial team. Coordinate daily work schedules for Janitorial staff to ensure all GCW locations are covered.
- Ensure proper safety, health and sanitation policies and procedures are in place and being used for the safety of guests and staff.
- Lead, coach, train, develop and motivate team members.
- Responsible for janitorial stock inventory maintenance, ordering and vendor management.
- Perform regular and timely Performance Evaluation discussions and documentation with members of team and promote team environment while providing individual growth opportunities.
- Ensure all communications are shared with employees in a timely and accurate manner as appropriate.
- Answer visitor/tourists questions, give directions, share information about GCW, the Hualapai history and culture, etc.
- Foster a team environment, multi-task efficiently and maintain positive working relationships.
- Keep the Janitorial Manager apprised of all issues and fill in for the Manager in their absence.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Good oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
- Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience in a Janitor role.
- Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.
Working Conditions:
Position requires ability to work indoors as well as in outdoor environment for long periods of time, regardless of weather conditions. Must be able to routinely walk, stand, bend and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. as part of duties. Must be able to work varying schedules, weekends and holidays.
