Position Summary:
Provides maintenance and mechanical services to Hualapai River Running. Typical duties would include welding, gas and diesel engine mechanics, transmissions, power-train repairs, brake repairs, front-end suspensions, starters, alternators and other electrical items. Repairs physical structure, including plumbing and electrical services. Interprets operating, maintenance and repair manuals. Provides quality customer service at all times while following safety and health procedures and policies.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Ability to physically complete and have the knowledge to perform maintenance and repair duties such as welding, plumbing, electrical services, maintenance of structures and vehicle and engine repair and maintenance.
- Ability to read and understand operating, maintenance and repair manuals for equipment, machinery and engines and all maintenance services offered. Some of this information may be obtained through online methods.
- Ability to monitor the condition and maintenance of equipment, engines, machinery, vehicles and structures.
- Ability to routinely walk, stand, bend and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in outdoor and shop environment for long periods of time.
- Ability to work in a team environment and establish and maintain positive working relationships. Good client/customer service skills and the ability to work independently as well as in support of the group effort.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance and repair of equipment, gas and diesel engines, structures, vehicles and machinery for Hualapai River Running. This may include welding, plumbing, electrical services, transmissions, brake repairs, etc.
- Monitor the condition and maintain logs of maintenance and repair activities for equipment, engines, machinery, vehicles and structures.
- Interpret and translate into action information provided by maintenance and repair manuals, either online or in the physical manuals.
- Maintain and repair vehicles including engine, transmission, tires, brakes, front-end and electrical aspects.
- Maintain maintenance equipment in a clean, safe and operable condition. Label, dilute and use all chemicals in a proper manner. Follow safety and health policies and procedures at all times.
- Assist with inventory and order shop supplies, when authorized.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Good oral communication skills.
- Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record. Commercial Driver’s License preferred.
- Prior auto mechanic experience desired.
- High School Diploma or GED and 21 years of age.
- Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.
Working Conditions:
Position requires ability to work indoors in a shop environment as well as in outdoor environment occasionally. Must be able to routinely walk, stand, bend and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs as part of duties. Must be able to work varying schedules, weekends and holidays.
