Position Summary/Purpose:
Grand Canyon University (GCU) maintains relationships with nonprofit organizations identified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) by virtue of their charitable programs. The collective mission of 501(c)(3) organizations in the Phoenix Valley is to improve the quality of life for community residents or to solve particular problems related to those residents’ needs.
GCU maintains a partnership with Future for Kids located at 1425 W. Southern Avenue, Suite 10A, Tempe, AZ, 85282. Future for Kids provides mentor driven out-of-school programs and camps that focus on academics, athletics, and ethics to improve the lives of youth facing adversity. The CSLP student worker’s work schedule is dependent on the hours of operations and needs of Future for Kids; however, CSLP student workers may not work more than 20 hours per week during the academic year (i.e., fall/spring).
CSLP: This position has been reviewed and approved as Community Service as defined by 34 CFR 675.2(b). Per 34 CFR 675.2(b), community services are defined as, “Services which are designed to improve the quality of life for community residents, particularly low-income individuals, or to solve particular problems related to their need.” These services must be open and accessible to the community.
As an FWS-CSLP approved position, its services will be offered to non-GCU community members (i.e., local residents).

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities/Essential Functions:
Future for Kids supports elementary and middle school-aged youth who live in low-income communities and who may have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). As a Program Lead Flex, you will:
1. Assist staff with programming (i.e., games, behavior management, mentor support)
2. Take the lead in programming as needed.
3. Build a strong rapport with participating youths and mentors.
4. Assist with set-up and clean-up at each program.
5. Other duties as assigned.
Please note, this position has a set weekly schedule which will require Program Leads to attend Monday meetings from 11am – 1pm as well as visit a different site location on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday depending on your agreed-up on schedule. Experience/Education:
Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:
Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program.
Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.
