Position Summary/Purpose:
Grand Canyon University (GCU) maintains relationships with nonprofit organizations identified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) by virtue of their charitable programs. The collective mission of 501(c)(3) organizations in the Phoenix Valley is to improve the quality of life for community residents or to solve particular problems related to those residents’ needs.
GCU maintains a partnership with Ministerios Unidos En Una Vision located at 6902 W. Heatherbrae Drive, Phoenix, AZ, 85033. Ministerios Unidos demonstrates their Christian beliefs by serving the community (i.e., cleaning up the community, sponsoring clothing and health drives, teaching life skills to youths, etc.). The CSLP student worker’s work schedule is dependent on the hours of operations and needs of Ministerios Unidos En Una Vision; however, CSLP student workers may not work more than 20 hours per week during the academic year (i.e., fall/spring).
CSLP: This position has been reviewed and approved as Community Service as defined by 34 CFR 675.2(b). Per 34 CFR 675.2(b), community services are defined as, “Services which are designed to improve the quality of life for community residents, particularly low-income individuals, or to solve particular problems related to their need.” These services must be open and accessible to the community.
As an FWS-CSLP approved position, its services will be offered to non-GCU community members (i.e., local residents).

Primary Responsibilities /Accountabilities/ Essential Functions:
Assist youth leader
Create lessons for youths focused on life skill and managing secondary school
Organize youth-enriching activities
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Have passion and willingness to help others succeed.
Possess strong ethics, integrity, and sense of responsibility.
Previous Mentoring a plus.
Ability to speak a second language a plus.
Must have reliable transportation.
Experience/Education:
Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following
eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:
- Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program.
- Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
- Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.
