Job Title: School Occupational Therapist (OT)
Location: Grand Coulee Dam School District
Position Type: Part-Time (2 days/week)
Reports To: Special Education Director
Job Summary: The School Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for assessing, planning, and providing therapy to students with physical, sensory, or cognitive challenges that affect their ability to participate in school activities. The OT works collaboratively with educators, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized intervention plans that support students’ academic success and independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students' fine motor, sensory processing, visual-motor, and self-care skills to determine their impact on school performance.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with the special education team.
- Provide direct and consultative therapy services to students in various educational settings.
- Recommend and assist in implementing adaptive equipment, modifications, and strategies to support student learning.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to integrate occupational therapy strategies into the classroom.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of evaluations, therapy sessions, and progress reports.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of student goals and objectives.
- Educate and train teachers and staff on strategies to improve students’ fine motor, self-care, and sensory processing skills.
- Stay current on best practices, research, and new developments in occupational therapy.
- Adhere to federal, state, and local regulations related to special education and occupational therapy services.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Valid state licensure or certification in occupational therapy.
- Certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) preferred.
- Previous experience in a school setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, including IDEA and Section 504.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a school setting, including classrooms, therapy rooms, and other learning environments.
- May involve travel between schools within the district.
- Occasional lifting of materials and equipment related to therapy sessions.
Salary & Benefits:
- Hourly pay range ($44.93-$71.01) based on experience and qualifications.
- Benefits depending on hours
