Job Title: School Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
Location: Grand Coulee Dam School District
Position Type: Part-Time (2 Days per Week)
Reports To: Special Education Director
Job Summary: The School Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in students. The SLP works collaboratively with educators, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized intervention plans to support students' academic and social success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, and provide therapy for students with speech, language, fluency, voice, and communication disorders.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with the special education team.
- Conduct screenings and comprehensive evaluations to identify speech and language needs.
- Provide direct and consultative services to students in various educational settings.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school personnel to support students' communication skills in the classroom.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of evaluations, therapy sessions, and progress reports.
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute to the development of student goals and objectives.
- Educate and train teachers and staff on speech and language disorders and intervention strategies.
- Stay current on best practices, research, and new developments in speech-language pathology.
- Adhere to federal, state, and local regulations related to special education and speech-language services.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Valid state licensure or certification in speech-language pathology.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.
- Previous experience in a school setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, including IDEA and Section 504.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a school setting, including classrooms, therapy rooms, and other learning environments.
- May involve travel between schools within the district.
- Occasional lifting of materials and equipment related to therapy sessions.
Salary & Benefits:
- Hourly salary range ($44.93-$71.01) based on experience and qualifications.
