Summary:
Grand Forks Snow Removal is seeking experienced tractor drivers/operators who can safely navigate a tractor in and out of residential driveways early in the morning during harsh weather conditions all season long.
Job description
Each tractor operator will be contacted ahead of each storm to discuss the weather forecast and the
plan. Our standard operating procedure is to have all tractor operators at the shop by 2:00 am to prep
their tractors with a goal of clearing the first driveway by 3:00 am at the latest.
Each tractor route consists of an average of 70 driveways. All driveways need to be opened up by 7am. Then we take a break. We then come back for a cleanup pass which is slower and more detailed. We expect the average work day to be 8 to 10 hours of drive time. Of course on blizzard days it will take longer and possibly multiple shifts to complete all the driveways.
If it's an ongoing storm we will not make the cleanup pass, instead we will make another quick pass in the afternoon and then another pass the following morning at 3am. We cannot control when the snow falls nor can we control when it ends. We require operators to be flexible and available when needed. We work every storm including Sundays and holidays.
