What are the responsibilities and job description for the Math Teacher position at Grand Forks?
Education : Bachelor's Degree
Qualifications : Must have or be eligible for a North Dakota teaching license qualified to teach math.
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following :
- Meets assigned students at the times designated by the immediate supervisor.
- Develops and maintains a classroom environment that reflects the teacher's unique talents and skills and, at the same time, meets the district's curriculum objectives within the limits of available resources.
- Prepares for assigned classes and provides required documentation, preparation, and implementation on request of the immediate supervisor.
- Assists the administration in implementing policies and / or rules governing student conduct, develops reasonable rules for behavior, and maintains order in a fair and just manner.
- Provides an effective program of instruction based on the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. This should include, but are not limited to : a) Review of previously taught material, as needed; b) Presentation of new material; c) Use of a variety of teaching materials and techniques; d) Evaluation of student progress on a regular basis.
- Correlates individual instructional objectives with the philosophy, goals, and objectives stated for the district.
- Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
- Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Seeks assistance for students with special needs.
- Attends and participates in faculty, department, and district meetings.
- Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for paraprofessional(s), student teacher(s), and / or volunteer(s).
- Is accessible to students and parents for education related purposes outside the in-school workday, under reasonable terms.
- Cooperates with other members of the staff and / or district personnel in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning academic and behavioral progress.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with other staff members.
- Provides for professional growth through a continuous program of evaluation, reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and / or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning, complying with the Grand Forks Schools' professional growth program.
- Demonstrates effective oral and written communication.
- Utilizes and integrates technology in an efficient and effective manner to enhance the instructional program.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment and Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; Maintain effective audio / visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties; Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others.
Evaluation : By the Principal at least twice each year in the first three years of service (December 15 & April 15), and at least once each year thereafter (April 15).
A teaching contract of 188 days.
