Position Summary:
The Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego is seeking a dynamic and experienced Purchasing Director to oversee and manage all aspects of procurement for our luxury property. This key leadership role ensures that all purchasing activities align with the hotel’s operational needs, financial objectives, and brand standards. The Purchasing Director will collaborate with various departments to provide cost-effective, high-quality supplies and services while maintaining strong vendor relationships and ensuring compliance with Hyatt’s policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies that optimize cost savings, efficiency, and quality.
- Oversee the procurement of goods, materials, and services required for hotel operations, including food and beverage, maintenance, housekeeping, and administrative supplies.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of purchase orders, contracts, and vendor agreements.
- Monitor and evaluate market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and contractors.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and conditions.
- Conduct regular vendor performance evaluations to ensure compliance with quality standards and service expectations.
- Manage the purchasing budget and ensure alignment with the hotel’s financial goals.
- Conduct cost analyses and prepare detailed reports for senior management.
- Collaborate with the finance department to ensure accurate tracking of expenditures and adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with Hyatt’s corporate policies, ethical standards, and local regulations.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of procurement activities and supplier contracts.
- Support sustainability initiatives by sourcing environmentally friendly products and services.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing team to achieve departmental goals.
- Foster a collaborative environment that promotes innovation and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular training sessions to enhance the team’s knowledge of procurement best practices.
Salary: The salary range for this position is $83,600 to $112,000. This is the pay range for this position that Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors, such as experience and education.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Proven leadership experience, with a track record of successfully managing and developing teams.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal procurement regulations.
- Familiarity with Hyatt’s brand standards and operational practices.
- Experience in sustainable procurement practices.
