Job summary
As a 'clinic nurse' with Grand Island Clinic, you will assist in the assessment of patient needs and health plan by taking vital signs, blood pressure, and patient history. This position offers the flexibility to work four days per week if desired.
Summary of essential job functions
- Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or by phone, answering or referring inquiries
- Prepares patients for the healthcare visit by accompanying them to the examining room; assisting them in preparation for examination or treatment
- Prepare and arranging examining room instruments, supplies and equipment
- Verifies patient information by interviewing, reviewing, recording medical history
- Obtaining patient vital signs, history and purpose for visit
- Supports patient care delivery by following provider direction during examinations, preparing laboratory specimens, administering medications, authorizing prescription refills as directed, transmitting prescriptions to pharmacies, drawing blood, changing dressings, removing sutures, and other duties as assigned in accordance with state law
- Educates patients by providing medication and diet information, instructions and answering questions
- Completes records by recording patient examination, treatment and test results
- Answering nurse triage phone, verifies patient information, review and recording medical history, purpose of the call, and relay detailed information to the appropriate party
- Maintain supplies by inventorying stock, placing orders and verifying receipt
- Maintains patient confidence and confidentiality
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong clinical nursing skills, including medication administration and wound care.
- Proficiency in managing patient vaccinations and related records.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to provide education and care.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- High attention to detail and adherence to safety and documentation standards.
- Competency with electronic medical records (EMR) and basic computer applications.
- Ability to multitask and manage priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Current licensure as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Nebraska.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Experience with vaccine administration and routine nursing procedures preferred.
