Job Summary:
The Clinical Assistant at Grand Island Clinic supports the daily operations of the clinic by performing a variety of clinical and administrative tasks. This role provides direct patient care and assists healthcare professionals with clinical procedures, ensuring a smooth patient flow, exceptional patient care, and compliance with clinic policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions:
- Patient Interaction: Greet and check in patients, assist them to examination rooms, and prepare them for exams or procedures.
- Patient Preparation: Collect and document vital signs, medical histories, and symptoms. Prepare patients for tests or treatments as directed by the healthcare provider.
- Clinical Assistance: Support healthcare providers in routine procedures such as injections, wound care, EKGs, and specimen collection.
- Medication and Equipment Handling: Prepare and administer medications as instructed and ensure medical equipment is sanitized and functioning correctly.
- Documentation: Accurately record patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR) system following clinic protocols.
- Administrative Support: Schedule appointments and process insurance authorizations as needed.
- Patient Education: Provide patients with information regarding treatments, tests, or procedures as directed by the healthcare provider.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using EMR systems and standard medical equipment.
- Patient Care Skills: Knowledge of basic clinical procedures, patient handling, and ability to provide compassionate patient support.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients, families, and clinic staff effectively.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks efficiently, and maintain a calm and professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to Detail: Accurate in documentation, medication administration, and following clinical protocols.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with clinical staff, providers, and administrative team members to ensure efficient clinic operations.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- A high school diploma or equivalent and a Medication Aide certification are required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or healthcare setting is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required or must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move throughout the clinic for the majority of the shift.
- Requires the ability to lift and carry medical equipment or supplies up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to assist patients with mobility issues, including helping them in and out of examination tables.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and kneeling may be required for patient care and equipment handling.
