Roustabout Hand

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: Laborers/Hands are responsible for assisting skilled craft/construction workers in performing their assigned duties. Laborers/Hands perform a large variety of duties involving physical labor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Cleans and/or prepares job sites to eliminate possible hazards, which may include digging, spreading and leveling gravel
• Cleans tools, equipment, materials and work areas
• Loads, unloads and identifies building/construction materials, machinery or tools
• Distributes machinery, materials and/or tools to the appropriate locations, according to project plansor specifications
• Obtains tools, supplies, equipment and water for craftsmen as requested
• Spreads or pours concrete, asphalt, gravel or other materials
• Performs a variety of non-machine tasks, such as removing forms from set concrete, filling expansion joints with asphalt, placing culvert sections in trenches, etc.
• Maintains a clean jobsite; may include sweeping, shoveling, painting, trash and debris removal, etc.
• Performs minor repairs on equipment and buildings as directed
• Spends time on one job, or may be transferred from task to task as the project progresses

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Entry level position
• Prior experience in the construction industry is preferred
