JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible and immediately supervised by the Associate Director of ARC.
This position is responsible and held accountable for the following duties:
- Be aware of and follow confidentiality guidelines as provided by GRAND Mental Health's policy
- Conduct self in a professional manner in personal appearance and in the qualities presented to clients, public, and co-workers
- Assist and conduct intake, admission, and discharge procedures
- Maintain unit security and assist in basic crisis intervention
- Facilitate groups as assigned
- Orient new clients to unit and to the guidelines of the facility
- Perform timely room checks
- Perform hourly bed checks through night
- Maintain an accurate “Shift Log” documenting the day’s event
- Assist in client drug testing and documentation (collection of urine specimens and conducting breathalyzer tests)
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Monitor and document unusual client behavior and notify counselors of concerns
- Transport clients as needed on medical, dental, and recreational outings (must be on approve driver list with Human Resources)
- Maintain client charts
- Account for all client charts on unit
- Build and break down charts as needed
- Pick up and distribute client paperwork
- Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or other management as requested
- Participates in staff meetings as needed
- Must be willing and able to perform all job-related travel normally associated with this position
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job requirement
- Must meet “satisfactory” expectations at any scheduled job performance evaluation
- Quality of work will be evaluated through training, skill, or special purpose. Must be competent and adequate

In addition, must possess skill in working cooperatively and effectively with clients, staff, management and other professional groups; in exercising mature judgment in dealing with people; in presenting ideas clearly and accurately; in reading and comprehending the English language; and in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
At least one (1) year of experience in counseling or working with alcoholics/addicts in a recognized treatment, rehabilitation, or counseling program; or a combination of education and experience, preferred.
