What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Outreach Specialist - Lead position at Grand Lake Mental Health Center Inc?
The Community Outreach Team Lead manages and leads a team of Community Outreach Specialists that provide outreach services for individuals who have been impacted by tornados. The Community Outreach team will be responsible for providing crisis assistance such as emotional support, crisis counseling, and educating individuals in selecting community resources.
This position is classified as temporary full-time with a job assignment approximately six months in duration.
- Provide leadership to a team of community outreach specialists to include training, debriefings, supervision, coordination and general oversight of the specialists plans of service.
- Provide reassurance, practical assistance, phyco-education, and emotional support.
- Teach behavioral techniques for coping with stress.
- Coordinates data collection activities and reviews data form submissions for accuracy.
- Collaborates with individuals, families, and groups to provide outreach, emotional support, individual and group crisis counseling, public education and referrals when needed.
- Represents program in the community and networks with other agencies.
- Partner with community organizations and members to ensure needs of survivors are met.
- Present information to community groups on disaster reactions, coping skills, stress management, and the CCP.
- Attends staff and committee meetings as well as workshops and seminars.
- Participates in on-going in-service training as well as pertinent external training.
- This position is responsible and held accountable for the following duties:
- Utilizing iPads to complete data forms and referrals as necessary.
- Work flexible hours as required.
- Understands and promotes our Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) concept by providing or supporting community-based mental and substance use disorder services; advancing integration of behavioral health with physical health care; assimilating and utilizing evidence-based practices on a more consistent basis; and promoting improved access to high quality care.
- Performs other reasonably related assigned duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as requested.
- Must be willing and able to perform all job-related travel normally associated with this position.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job requirement.
- Must meet satisfactory expectations at any scheduled job performance evaluation. Quality of work will be evaluated through training, skill, or special purpose. Must be competent and adequate.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors degree in mental health or counseling related field required.
Additional education and/or professional licensure preferred.
Disaster counseling experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Active listening skills.
Excellent coaching and teaching skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient computer skills, with experiencing utilizing Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Previous community presentation, program development and/or supervisory experience preferred.
