Position: English Learner Assistant
Summary: The English Learner Assistant will support the certified teacher in providing English language instruction to individuals or small groups of students in a classroom or other learning environment.
Reports to: Building Principals
Coordinates with: English Learner Department
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties:
- Prepare instructional materials including modifying assignments to include scaffolds and other supports
- Support the certified teacher in delivering instruction to students
- Routinely assess and collect student data
- Providing support to classroom teachers to assure accommodations are made that follow ELD Plans
- Support students during times when ELL teachers cannot provide classroom support due to teaching general education classes
- Provide practice with EL goals as directed by teacher for differentiation
- Assist with translation when needed
- Assist in maintaining positive environment for Els
- Clerical tasks including copying, filing to meet EL coordinator needs that fall on EL department
- Traveling to multiple schools
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience learning a new language (preferred)
- Strong ability to understand, speak, read, and write with a variety of different people
- Practice cultural awareness/sensitivity
- Meets ESSA standards for highly trained and qualified, which includes a minimum of an associate degree or equivalent experiences
