Position: Facilities Supervisor
Reports to: Deputy Superintendent

FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary Schedule: Central Office Salaried
Compensation: Per Salary Schedule commensurate with experience.
Summary: The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and operations of district facilities for Grand Ledge Public School to include the direction and support for Maintenance & Grounds Teams. This is a working supervisor position that will also coordinate with District staff members including but not limited to Central Office, Buildings, Grounds & Maintenance, and Building Administrators.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is required, Associates Degree or higher preferred.
- Facilities Director Certification (CFD) through Michigan School Business Officials (MSBO) or equivalent __ or willing to begin the process upon hire and obtain it within 2 years.
- 3 years of successful, practical experience in custodial, maintenance supervision and/or maintenance engineering work.
- 2 years of leadership experience that demonstrates supervision and organizational management.
- S-5 Well Water & Pool Water certification or obtain within a year.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of all district buildings, ensuring a safe, clean, and functional learning environment.
- Identify, plan, and oversee general fund repair projects.
- Ensure all district facilities comply with Michigan school safety laws, OSHA requirements, fire codes, ADA regulations, and environmental standards and schedules annual inspections, testing and certifications to include AHERA management plan, CSD-1 Boiler Inspections, StormWater Management Plan (MS-4) Permits, and BackFlow Testing.
- Prepare and manage the facilities budget, including cost control for maintenance, supplies, and capital improvement projects.
- Manage maintenance and groundskeeping staff to maintain district facilities, well-kept grounds, and safe outdoor spaces.
- Implement and oversee a work order system to track maintenance requests, repairs, and inventory of supplies and equipment efficiently.
- Knowledge and ability to interpret laws and regulations related to business, finance and union relations.
- Develop and implement a preventative maintenance schedule for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems to extend the life of district assets.
- Knowledge of and experience with applicable laws, regulations, and emerging practices pertaining to assigned responsibilities, including current issues and trends in business and operations activities.
- Knowledge of and experience with supervisory methods and practices in the areas of leadership.

- Provide information and recommendations to the Deputy Superintendent regarding long-term facility needs; updates six-year capital facilities plan yearly; works with local municipalities in a cooperative fashion.
- Collaborates closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and the Director of Human Resources regarding budget preparation, employment contracts, job postings, and mutual processes.
- Determine operational policies, guidelines, priorities, and the scheduling of ongoing and major and minor projects.
- Responsible for interviewing and selection of personnel directly supervised.
- Attendance at relevant work studies and work with administrative leaders to develop program priorities and budget recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with law, policy, rules, and regulations, and establish and maintain internal controls and procedures.
- Manage district Risk Management program; review and audit incident and accident investigation reports for appropriate risk management action.
- Communicate with expertise and confidence with oral presentation, written reports, and other forms of communication.
- Displays the highest ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school.
- All other duties as assigned by the Deputy Superintendent
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be physically present.
- The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.
