Summary: The Half-Time Assistant Transportation Supervisor / Half-Time Dispatcher-Router plays a critical dual-role in supporting the effective and efficient operation of the school district's transportation department. This position assists in supervising daily transportation functions, ensures compliance with regulations, and manages the routing and dispatch of buses. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills to provide safe and timely transportation for students.
Minimum QualificationsL
- High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree or coursework in logistics, transportation, or related field preferred.
- Prior experience in school transportation, dispatching, or routing required; supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Familiarity with transportation management systems and routing software (e.g., Transfinder, VersaTrans, or similar).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.bility to remain calm and make decisions in fast-paced or emergency situations.
- Working knowledge of transportation safety standards and regulations.
- CDL with school bus (S) and passenger (P) endorsements preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days (may be required depending on district needs).

Assist the Transportation Supervisor with oversight of daily transportation operations.
Assistant Transportation Supervisor (50%)
- Support supervision and coordination of bus drivers, aides, and transportation staff.
- Help ensure compliance with district, state, and federal transportation laws and safety standards.
- Maintain driver files, training logs, and required safety documentation.
- Assist in the coordination of transportation services for special education and extracurricular activities.
- Act as a point of contact for staff and parents to address transportation-related inquiries and concerns.
- Participate in incident investigations and assist with discipline or training follow-ups.
Dispatcher-Router (50%)
Develop and maintain efficient bus routes and schedules using routing software.
- Dispatch drivers and monitor the status of routes in real-time.
- Receive and respond to radio, phone, and email communications from drivers, staff, and families.
- Maintain daily logs and accurate records of routes, incidents, and changes.
- Monitor traffic, weather, and other conditions that may affect transportation schedules.
- Adjust routes and schedules as needed to accommodate absences, breakdowns, or emergencies.
- Ensure up-to-date route maps, rosters, and emergency contact information are accessible to all drivers.
