POSITION PURPOSE
Operates electronic switchboard to provide answering service for the hotel. Greets caller and announces name or phone number of hotel. Records and delivers messages, furnishes information, accepts orders, and relays calls. Places telephone calls at request of guest or management and is responsible for all emergency telephone communications. Responsible for accepting and delivering packages and electronic facsimile messages to and from guests. Electronically or manually date stamps and files messages. Removes filed messages after required file period has elapsed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for the efficient operation of the hotel’s switchboard.
- Responsible for representing the hotel when talking with any individual; guest, vendor, travel agent, employee, or others; in a professional manner:
- answer all calls within three (3) rings;
- voice calm and unhurried;
- style reflecting care and concern for the caller;
- patient and tolerant of all callers;
- helpful in each circumstance to the fullest of the position’s ability.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality of transactions.
- Maintain message storage for a period of time as specified by Supervisor.
- Discard stored messages when the storage time has elapsed.
- All other duties as assigned by a manager or supervisor.

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Westin/Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel’s facilities. Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Physical Demands
