JOB SUMMARY
The Receiving/Shipping Supervisor is responsible for all activities related to incoming and outgoing products and materials. This includes accurate and timely transactions, organization of materials, and execution to meet KPI’s and financial targets. This work also includes communicating with suppliers and freight companies on a variety of business initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for an accurate and timely freight quoting process to support the Customer and Sales Operation’s needs.
- Ship outgoing materials according to customer requirements.
- Prepare records of good shipped, such as bills of load; calculate and review weight and shipping charges and keep files of shipping records in TMS and other databases.
- Direct customer communication to coordinate shipment and delivery. Communicates, updates and follow through as required.
- Solve problems related to shipping quickly - internal shipping issues and Freight Carrier issues through freight claims.
- Enter, manage, and track closure of freight claims.
- Manage freight performance and costs to achieve delivery requirements, (complete, correct, and on time) and freight financial targets.
- Use data to analyze performance. Investigate, prioritize and make improvements.
- Responsible for export compliance including NAFTA certificates and documentation.
- Responsible for accurate and timely receipt of materials
- Responsible for the timely put away of materials
- Ensure all materials are ready, available, and in the proper location for manufacturing schedules.
- Maintain accurate record keeping of all off site storage, including transactions and transfers.
- Work safely and follow all safety rules and regulations.
- Keeps area neat, clean and organized according to company standards.
- Is willing to support manufacturing and materials teams as needed
- Maintains focus on improving the business through visual management and other LEAN tools modeled after the Toyota Production System (TPS)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred OR a minimum of 10 years related experience in Materials, Purchasing, and Logistics along with a 2-5 years leadership experience.
- Experience or proven capability within ERP systems to use reports and navigate company information for problem solving
- Proficient use of personal computers and computer operation within a network environment.
- Experience in leading a team or projects using Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Agile and self-motivated learner.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Independent thinker with ability to manage in a team oriented, fast paced environment.
