CONTRACT: Part-time hourly, non-exempt position (up to 30 hours weekly)
REPORTS TO: Director of Marketing and Communications
COORDINATES WITH: Executive Director of Development, Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and Advancement, Building Principals, Administrative Staff, and Advancement Team
POSITION SUMMARY
The Graphic Designer at GRCS works with the Director of Marketing and Communications to develop compelling and effective materials that resonate with our target audience. The Graphic Designer will be instrumental in defining the visual direction to narrate our story in a way that captivates, educates, and motivates families, friends, and donors. This role involves working alongside a varied team to create impactful and persuasive print and digital materials. The Graphic Designer will be a strategic, innovative thinker and a proficient visual communicator who excels at creative problem-solving.
OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE
- Develop innovative designs that meet creative objectives and align with GRCS’s brand (print, web, and social media)
- Work independently as well as collaborate with various teams at GRCS
- See project(s) through the complete process (concept to final deliverables) for both print and digital materials
- Work with outside vendors to print and/or mail communication materials
- Meet deadlines, stay within budget, and schedule project implementation based on workload
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with Director of Marketing and Communications on design needs for the GRCS district
- Create and execute concepts, design layouts, and formatting appropriate digital files consistent with the goals and objectives outlined in creative briefs
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of layout, typography, composition, color theory, and ensure all design and messaging aligns with GRCS’s brand for all communication platforms
- Create high-quality designs that positively impact the intended audience within the framework of GRCS's overall visual identity
- Including but not limited to: admissions collateral, brochures, invitations, postcards, signage, stationary, graphics for web/social media, Impact Report, Board Report, fundraising materials, and all other communication materials
- Manage project schedules and maintain timelines through Asana
- Review and finalize files for print or digital production
- Produce home bulletins for GRCS
- Collaborate with administrative assistants to gather content
- Design the bulletin based on provided materials
- Ensure timely delivery to the appropriate recipients
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing and Communications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and an active member of a Christian church
- Deeply committed to the mission of GRCS
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design or equivalent experience
- Experience in design solutions across multiple mediums (video, print, web, mobile, etc.)
- Strong experience and comprehensive knowledge with print production, including proofing and press checking
- Strong portfolio of sample projects including layout and print projects
- Strong technical skills, including Adobe Creative Suite
- Proven ability to research and translate design trends into graphic concepts that communicate clearly
- High level of passion, collaboration and dedication to your area of expertise
- Highly organized, articulate, and detail-oriented with a fundamental understanding of complete design process
- Good oral and written communication skills as well as strong organizational and self-directing skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in photography, videography, and story writing
- High degree of professionalism, creativity, and flexibility
