ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide leadership in the development and promotion of an instruction program that facilitates students acquisition of library research and information literacy skills.
- Lead the LLCs Information Literacy Team establishing learning targets and the methods to achieve them.
- Coordinate the development of instructional materials, research guides, tutorials, and other asynchronous learning resources within the Information Literacy Team.
- Promote information literacy initiatives within the GRCC community.
- Develop faculty partnerships to integrate information literacy into the curriculum.
- Schedule and teach information literacy classes.
- Coordinate assessment planning to measure student learning outcomes.
- Assist and assess GRCC librarians in the development of their pedagogical effectiveness.
- Design and facilitate training opportunities for librarians that promote their continuing development as teachers, including content and pedagogy.
- Review and evaluate all locations where GRCC classes take place to ensure student access to LLC services and collections.
- Coordinate outreach to the College community including event planning, social media initiatives, faculty/staff training, and student orientation sessions.
- Monitor ADA compliance in collaboration with Disability Services.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Educational Credentials
- Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution required.
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in education preferred.
Work Experience
- Three years experience of recent professional experience in instruction and reference services required including: experience in information literacy instruction planning and design, substantial classroom teaching in information literacy, broad experience with a wide variety of print and electronic resources, broad experience working with diverse populations, demonstrated initiative in outreach activities, general reference service, collection development and liaison service.
- Experience assessing the learning outcomes of information literacy preferred.
Skills
- Proficiency in using electronic library and information resources and computer applications such as Microsoft Office required.
- Technological skill, such as desktop publishing and Web page design and creation.
- Working knowledge of Blackboard.
- Excellent communication skills.
