SUMMARY OF POSITION :
The Unlicensed Electrician is a member of the Operations Team. This person reports to the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for assisting in the operation of the Electrical Maintenance Department.

JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Work closely under Master / Journeyman electrician to repair electrical systems including lights and distribution
- Must be willing to learn how to efficiently and thoroughly troubleshoot and repair building electrical systems
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics
- Assist with other departments as requested.
- Assist with off-hour emergency calls 24 hours / day, 7 days / week
- Promote continuous quality improvement with team members
- Interact with co-workers, other departments, administration, students, parents and the community in positive, supportive and cooperative ways
- Must furnish own hand tools for the trade
- Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, carries materials and equipment, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 40 pounds. Must be able to work outside for extended periods (up to the entire eight (8) hour shift in varying types of weather conditions. Must be able to climb and work from scaffolding, ladders and within tunnels as necessary. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust / focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is performed primarily indoors although there will be required outdoor work.
MENTAL FUNCTIONS :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.
