JOB SUMMARY

The Licensed Heating / Air Conditioning person is a member of the Operations Team. This position reports to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for assisting in the operation of the Mechanical Maintenance Department.

• Responsible for the removal, lay out, and installation of heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems
• Efficiently and thoroughly troubleshoot heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems
• Troubleshoot and repair gas fired boilers and their controls
• Install and repair steam and hot water heating controls, electric and pneumatic, such as : valves, traps, pumps thermostats, etc.
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics
• Assist with other departments as required
• Interact with co-workers, administration, students, parents, and the community in positive, supportive, and cooperative ways
• Availability for emergency calls 24 hours / day, 7 days / week as needed
• Work flexible hours, as required
• Promote continuous quality improvement with team members
• Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 40 pounds. Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolds and within tunnels as necessary. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust / focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is performed indoors although there will be required outdoor activities.

MENTAL FUNCTIONS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile, and negotiate.
