Unit:                            Professional and Administrative Exempt

Salary:                       Compensation range listed is based on an average 1-15 years of experience, as determined by Human Resources

                                    Grade 104 – Specific salary based on experience

 

 

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the English Learners (EL) Executive Director, the Migrant, Refugee, and Immigrant Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the implementation of district models for teaching and learning of English to migrant, refugee, and immigrant learners.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Implement and oversee districtwide models for teaching English to migrant, refugee, and immigrant scholars.
  • Lead the Summer School Migrant Program in the planning, design, and monitoring of the program working with the EL Coordinator to ensure all scholars are provided summer school services.
  • Provide training for summer school
  • In conjunction with Office of Assessment & Evaluation develop a rubric to monitor progress of migrant, refugee, and immigrant scholars for building
  • Ensure that all language centers are aligned with the district’s instructional model (Literacy Continuum).
  • Coordinate selection & purchase of appropriate instructional materials to support instruction of migrant, refugee, and immigrant according to District standards and
  • Provide support and training to PreK-12 principals and staff as needed in conjunction with the content focused Literacy
  • Coordinate the identification, assessment, placement, and provision of services of all PreK-12 scholars with a Primary or Home Language Other Than English (PHLOTE) eligible for language
  • Support staff in meeting the needs of migrant, refugee, and immigrant
  • Develop training program for paraprofessionals involved with
  • Interface with community agencies involved in the resettlement of
  • Participate in the District’s PreK-12 Principal
  • Coordinate efforts with other stakeholders to expand opportunities for parent involvement and
  • Assist schools in monitoring exited migrant, refugee, and immigrant
  • Review and analyze scholar data (e.g., WIDA, attendance, writing prompts, NWEA, attendance, discipline) and develop appropriate action plans for
  • Participate in the District’s Bilingual Diagnostic team Child Study Teams as
  • Create and chair a migrant, refugee, and immigrant Proficiency Team to support decision-making and program improvement to include administrators, parents, community members, and PreK-12 staff.
  • Coordinate efforts with Human Resources in the identification, recruitment, and selection of bilingual/ESL
  • Stay current practices impacting the education of migrant, refugee, and immigrant scholars.
  • Participate in district wide
  • Lead Professional Learning
  • Participate in internal and external data
  • Assist in the implementation of research based best practices for migrant, refugee, and immigrant scholars
  • Coach PreK-12 staff as needed on the implementation of research based best practices and strategies for migrant, refugee, and immigrant scholars including
  • Participate in Instructional
  • Assist and plan migrant, refugee, and immigrant districtwide parent meetings and Family Literacy
  • Collect, analyze, and share data on the progress of migrant, refugee, and immigrant
  • Identify and coordinate services for migrant, refugee, and immigrant scholars and their
  • Be able to use technology to support training and classroom instruction.
  • Other duties as assigned and as allowed by grant funding and by the Executive

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education
  • Teacher certification with an ESL endorsement
  • Trained in the SIOP Instructional

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in administration or TESOL.
