SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Manager/Nutrition Center Program is responsible for the daily kitchen and production operations of the Nutrition Center.

JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assure that the food required to operate all Nutrition Center programs is prepared according to prescribed methods, production schedules, and recipes
- Maintain high standards of sanitation and safety in the food service area and with the production equipment
- Supervise all kitchen personnel along with conducting regularly scheduled production meetings
- Train new Food & Nutrition Services employees. Assign their work and check their progress by observation and inspection
- Coordinate the kitchen production schedule with both the Nutrition Center Coordinator and Warehouse Manager
- Maintain all records requested by the Food & Nutrition Services office.

Responsible for the nutritional integrity and quality assurance of the program including but not limited to:

Cook Chill Products:
- yields per bag
- appearance and flavor
- student acceptance
- lab analysis of microbial activity (2 times per year)

Other Foods Prepared:
- sack lunches
- salads and fruits
- sandwiches
- Munchers
- Coordinate weekly food and non-food purchasing needs with the Warehouse Manager. This includes inputting orders and checking in deliveries
- Conduct school site inspections as requested
- Responsible for all catering and theme meals
- Attend required meetings, workshops and conferences to increase knowledge and efficiency
- Assist in promotional and merchandising activities
- Actively participate in developing and maintaining departmental goals.
- Interact with co-workers, administration, students, parents and the community in positive, supportive and cooperative ways
- Assume responsibility and motivate fellow employees consistent with Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)
- Perform any other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum three (3) consecutive years of operational experience including supervision with institution or commercial food preparation, required
- Associates Degree in Food Service/Nutrition or Business Management preferred
- Demonstrable knowledge and application of catering skills
- Neat, clean and professional appearance as outlined in the departmental uniform policy
- Posses the energy and enthusiasm to promote the Nutrition Center programs in a positive and professional manner
- Assume responsibility and motivate fellow employees
- Ability to operate, assemble and sanitize satellite production equipment efficiently and without assistance
- Ability to work on wet floors
- Demonstrated ordering and inventory ability
- Demonstrated good attendance and punctuality
- Demonstrated Leadership and training skills
- Demonstrated ability to participate as a member of a team
- Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate.
