What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Grand Rapids Women's Health?
- Medical Assistant works under the direction of a physician, Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to facilitate care and assures that patient's needs are met.
- Assists provider as needed during the examination
- Reviews charts prior to appointments – obtains all tests or records necessary for patient visits.
- Medical Assistant works directly with a provider when in office.
- Obtains patient’s chief complaint, updates medical history, medications, Allergies, and Past family and Social history. Takes and records vital signs per provider’s protocol.
- Organized and able to multi-task to keep patients flowing through office.
- Medical Assistant draws up injections, sets out appropriate supplies, educates and preps the patient and assists the providers as necessary.
- Maintains an accurate tickler system for patient follow up.
- Schedules outside studies and makes referrals as ordered by the provider.
- Medical Assistant communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Acts as a patient / family advocate.
- Maintain patient dignity and privacy under HIPAA guidelines
- Telephone Triage – collects appropriate information to determine need, answers questions as documented in the chart or per protocol. Ability to react calmly and effectively in stressful situations and to communicate clearly. Under the direction of the physician, RN or NP responds to the patient needs. Documents per protocol.
- Housekeeping duties
- Completes fee ticket.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
