What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emergency Department Tech position at Grand River Health?
BASIC FUNCTION: Works under the direction of a Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner or Physician. Collaborates with Emergency Department, other departments and healthcare team to ensure quality patient care is provided. Serves as a member of the trauma/code/sepsis/stroke team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Obtains patient vitals and EKG, orders and obtains labs, starts IVs, assistswith patient care work flow
- Transports and rooms patients, answers phones/emails
- Communicates efficiently with Emergency Department members and other departments, hospitals, dispatch, etc.
- Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Training in any and/or all of the following classes, Paramedic, Pracbasic EMT training, Medical Assistant, Certified Nurse Assistant.
- Must have current BLS certification upon hire and maintain current status throughout GRHD employment.
- A minimum of 6 months’ experience in a similar role is preferred.
SALARY INFORMATION:
- $17.50 - $23.00 Dependent on experience may vary outside this range
- Additional $2.00 - $4.00 an hour for additional weekend and night shifts
- Compensation may vary outside this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience
