What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nuclear Medicine Tech position at Grand River Health?
BASIC FUNCTION: The Nuclear Tech performs a variety of imaging exams in Nuclear Medicine and is responsible for patient safety. The ideal candidate would have an interest in another established area of expertise within radiology in addition to Nuclear Medicine. The applicant should be seeking patient-centered practices with opportunities for education and clinical excellence.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Is the first line of interface with patients in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs.
- Prepares, measures, and administers radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic and therapeutic studies, utilizing a variety of equipment and following prescribed procedures.
- Administers therapeutic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under direction of physician.
- Completes the Grand River Health Checklist for Nuclear Medicine Technologists.
- Follows radiation safety techniques when disposing radioactive materials.
- Participates actively in Radiation Safety Meetings, Radiological Patient safety and Physician Education, Continuous Quality Improvement, Employee Satisfaction Committees, as well as other various committees as assigned.
- Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
- Certification with CNMT or ARRT(N)
- Maintains a valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists registration in Radiography
- Must have current BLS card within 3 months of initial employment and maintain current status throughout GRHD employment.
- Associate Degree of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Radiologic sciences from an AMA approved school preferred
- Prefer at least 3 years of professional radiology experience in a hospital patient care setting.
SALARY INFORMATION :
- $38.22 - $55.23 Dependent on Experience
- Additional $2.00 - $4.00 an hour for additional weekend and night shifts
