What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vascular Ultrasound Technician position at Grand River Health?
Performs vascular ultrasound examinations and Doppler flow analyses of blood vessels, using ultrasound equipment, to assist providers in diagnosing vascular conditions such as deep vein thrombosis, peripheral artery disease, and carotid artery disease. Conducts non-invasive diagnostic imaging to evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data related to the circulatory system. Credentialed in ultrasound RDMS and current certification as a Registered Vascular Technologist.
- Schedules and coordinates vascular studies, ensuring timely and efficient patient care.
- Accurately records test results and maintains detailed patient records in compliance with regulatory and hospital policies.
- Calibrates, troubleshoots, and maintains ultrasound equipment, ordering necessary supplies as needed.
- Ensures adherence to patient safety protocols, including proper positioning and use of ultrasound techniques to minimize patient discomfort.
- Serves as the primary interface with patients, explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and ensuring a positive imaging experience.
- Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives, patient satisfaction efforts, and continuing education related to vascular imaging.
- Assists Provider during venous procedures as needed.
- Provides venous mapping to expedite procedures and increase patient safety.
- Engages in multidisciplinary collaboration, attending committee meetings and assisting with vascular-related physician and patient education.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Credentialed in ultrasound RDMS and current certification as a Registered Vascular Technologist.
- Must have current BLS card within 3 months of hire and maintain current status throughout GRHD employment
SALARY INFORMATION:
- $39.47 - $69.92 Dependent on experience may vary outside this range
- Compensation may vary outside this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience
