SUMMARY
The Meeting Sales Manager position is responsible for working with Meeting & Event professionals and non-professional, to generate new business opportunities for (MICE) Meetings, Conventions, Incentives and Exhibitions at the property. This position will be held accountable to respond to and generates qualified sales prospects that convert to definite bookings. The MSM is responsible for ensuring that revenue goals are achieved or exceeded for their assigned territory and market segment. This position will help develop and implement plans for sales initiatives to support the mission of the GSR, and reporting of the results of the sales activity from the assigned markets. Market consists of meeting with group rooms of 100 and under, on peak.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Business Development of MICE Business in the assigned region; Conduct site inspections and foster new relationships with clients to grow the market for GSR.
Respond to leads generated from multiple sources: RSCVA, Cvent and Web Inquires.
Assist in development, creation, and execution of new sales strategies that support the vision of the GSR owners and management team.
Creating, running, analyzing new and existing reports on relevant sales issues to help Senior Leaders make business decisions
Maintaining all of the data within the Salesforce/Delphi system in order to maximize the use of hotel room revenue and function space inventory. Runs and compiles the various requested reports, creates excel spreadsheets, conducts monthly audits and monitors all Delphi usage.
Analyzing sales data, trends and information to uncover key drivers of performance and assist in developing recommendations
Assisting in setting priorities, hitting deadlines, shaping the deliverables and communicating those into results that can be understood and acted upon.
Analyzing new and existing tools to assist decision-making and sales drivers.
Maintain an on-going relationship with colleagues, hotel current and past clients.
Identifying long-term opportunity areas to improve sales and operations.
Developing reports utilized for soliciting new group business to maximize revenue.
Plans major travel functions (i.e. trade shows, associations, sales call) that deal specifically with his/her marketing area.
Maintains a minimum standard of 25 prospecting calls per week to new and existing accounts for future group business.
Plans and executes sales trip to include pre-trip and post trip reports.
Complete knowledge of status on all bookings pending at all times.
Meets or exceeds pre-determined productivity goals.
Participates in the Annual/Quarterly Sales Plan Incentives.
Any other duties as assigned within the scope of this position.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Must possess interpersonal skills to deal effectively with business contacts and team members at all levels of the company.
Must possess a strong attention to detail and presentation skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Products: Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, and Outlook.
Ability of complex reading, writing, math, and task completion skills is required.
Must have the following skills: clerical, compiling, coordination, analyzing, instructing, precision working, following instructions, influencing others, memorization, problem solving, independent judgment, and decision making.
Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate.
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 2 years’ property sales and marketing and selling group business experience is required, or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
Must be able to maintain appropriate Alcohol Awareness card.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is constantly sitting and occasionally standing and walking during the duration of their shift.
The team member will constantly have repetitive use of both hands.
