Summary
The Grand Sierra is looking for energetic and customer service minded individuals to join the Food and Beverage team as a Baker. Under the guidance of the Executive Chef, the Baker prepares all baked goods and pastry items needed for the Grand Sierra Resort. Assist Pastry Chef in training and Baker's Helper. Insure quality of all baked goods and pastries that are assigned to that position. Guarantee prompt, courteous and team minded service throughout the entire department and adhere to all Grand Sierra Resort standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum of 1 year of Bakery experience required. Candidate must possess the ability to deal with customers and co-workers in a tactful and respectful manner.
Language Skills
Possess excellent communication skills, both in written and oral form. Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in order to complete reports, correspondence and communicate with guests, Team Members and supervisors. Has the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, staff, customers, and general public.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or GED required. Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to interpret and follow through on a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Excellent time management, problem solving and organizational skills are a must.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure and calculate figures and amounts.
Other Qualifications
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate. In addition to performance of essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of functions to be determined based upon the particular needs of the Hotel.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee: must be able to maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, casino environment and effectively deal with customers, management, team members and others. Is regularly required to sit; stand; walk and move through all areas of the casino; speak and hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel. May reach with hands and arms above shoulder level; bend/stoop, squat, balance, kneel, lift and push/pull. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. - Prepare, bake and finish cakes, pies, French pastry, cream tarts and other dessert/baked items according to standard recipe.
- Prepare dessert and baked goods for restaurants and banquets as per production sheets; prepare requisition for items for storeroom and pastry/bakery chef approval.
- Maintain clean and sanitary work station within Servsafe and GSR guidelines.
- Ability to follow directions and recipes as dictated by Bakery management
- Demonstrate abilities to meet performance expectations with communication, initiative, problem solving, guest service, work habits and conduct.
