LPN Responsibilities
- Participates in the narcotic count
- Sets up, dispenses, and documents resident medications
- Responsible for maintaining orderly medication cart, medication room, and accurate medication administration records
- Monitors the daily care of all residents
- Performs skilled nursing tasks as defined by company policy and procedure, and as allowed by state law
- Responds to resident emergencies, including initiating emergency response, contract attention of back-up physician, and resident sponsor/next of kin
- Documents observations, concerns, changes in resident conditions, incidents and/or accidents, and ensures that follow-up documentation occurs until the issue is resolved
- Reports observations, concerns, and changes in resident condition to Director of Nursing or Administrator
- Communicates with family members, physicians, and other healthcare providers
- Records and implements physician orders, following appropriate procedures for fax and telephone orders
- Leads care staff in the implementation of care plans and care delivery
- Receives reports from care staff before end of shift and communicates with the next shift manager
- Assists in making care staff assignments and ensures that care task are complete
- Monitors performance of caregivers for compliance with established policies and procedures, and to ensure quality resident care
- Reports care staff performance issues to DON or Administrator and provides input for caregiver
- Manages shift coverage when staffing emergencies arise
- Participates in care staff orientation and training
- Acts as Manager on Duty for the assigned shift in absence of Administrator or DON
- Deals appropriately with a family member and visitor concerns or complaints
- Manages minor physical plant issues that arise during assigned shift, reporting as necessary to Maintenance Director and Administrator
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Education and Experience
- Current state LPN/LVN or RN License
- 6 months previous experience working in a healthcare setting
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special Requirements
- Successful completion of State LPN licensure
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
