Neuro Stroke Specialty RN

5 South (Neuro Stroke Specialty) is a comprehensive34-bed Neuro/Stroke/Telemetry specialty unit. Our team is highly trained, dedicated, and compassionate. Our fast-paced unit operates on the principle that the patient and their families come first. We are currently running a 7:1 ratio, utilizing a dynamic care team made up of of Patient Care Techs, RNs, physicians, and therapists to collaborate and manage the compassionate care of our patients. Our patients come from the ED, Neuro ICU, and other lateral units where patients present with new onset stroke, seizure, etc.

Job Summary:

Under general supervision the RN staff nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures of Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. In collaboration with the patient, the patient’s family and other members of the health care team, the clinical RN assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and coordinates treatment plans.

What you will do in this role:

• Assess the patient's condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s), and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record. - Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.
• Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.

What qualifications you will need:

• Active Registered Nurse or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License
• Basic Cardiac Life Support Provider or Instructor through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• One (1) year experience in acute care required
