ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Operate machinery such as skid steer, forklift, loaders in a safe, careful manner.
- Use rigging & forks on machinery to safely lift and move heavy objects including loading items into a truck.
- Ability to operate a chainsaw for tasks including bucking logs, clearing brush, and safely cutting down large technical trees (Often greater than 12’ in diameter).
- Perform standard chainsaw equipment maintenance including sharpening, cleaning, bar & chain installation, sparkplug installation/removal, air & gas filter service.
- Ability to perform carpentry, mechanical, and welding tasks as needed.
- Knowledge of the Grand Targhee topography including mountain roads, winter & summer trails, locations, mountain operations workflow.
- Must be self-motivated and dependable and work well with others.
- Ability to be dispatched location-wide and perform tasks with minimal supervision.
- Perform any reasonable duty as assigned by management.
- Willing to work all day outdoors, rain or sunshine.
RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY:
- Protect the safety of self-workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests.
- Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
- Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
- Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resort’s Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals.
- Operate equipment safely so that it will not lead to injury to yourself or others.
- Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

WORK SCHEDULE & COMMITMENT
Due to the nature of the recreation industry, we are in operation seven days a week. This includes weekends and holidays and there is no guarantee of hours. Flexible working hours may be required based on the business levels.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must have prior experience in a physical labor position. Experience working in landscaping, use of hand & power tools including chainsaws, and operating machinery such as skid steer, forklift, loader, ATV/UTV is required. Experience with Carpentry, Mechanical Repair or Welding required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
The employee must be able to read and interpret documents such as written work plans, SDS (Safety Data Sheets) and equipment manuals. The employee must be able to communicate verbally with co-workers, supervisors, and contractors.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

The employee must be able to work on their feet 10 hours/day.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee constantly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee may work in high, precarious places. The employee may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
