SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced early education/childcare professional to work with the Youth Program Senior Manager to develop and manage Grand Targhee Resort’s youth programs including Targhee’s licensed childcare facility (winter & summer ages 1 year – 5 years) and Fred’s Adventure Summer Camp (summer only, ages 6 – 12). This position will help with the day-to-day operations and help build future programming. You will work with the Senior Manager to hire, train and supervise staff in Kids’ Club and Fred’s Adventure Camp. Due to the nature of this role, being an active participant and engaging with children in childcare or camp will also be required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Become certified as the Assistant Director of Kid’s Club
- Work closely with the Senior Manager to achieve departmental goals.
- Develop programming and curriculum for Fred’s Adventure Camp (Summer Camp).
- Organize creative activities, games, and arts and crafts for winter Kid’s Club that nurture development.
- Create an environment that encourages exploration and learning that parents and children trust.
- Act as a member of the line level staff, as needed.
- Responsible for the safety and well-being of the children registered in youth programs.
- Communicate with and provide feedback to parents, supervisors and staff regarding the activities of children.
- Provide input to improve the overall quality of services and care provided in youth programs.
- Perform duties daily including but not limited to: feeding, changing of diapers, dressing and undressing children for skiing and/or outdoor play.
- Monitor sleeping/resting children.
- Ensure all areas of the kid’s club facility are cleaned daily.
- Hire, train and supervise Kid’s Club and Summer Camp staff, ensuring adequate guidance and devotion of resources to accomplish established goals and objectives.
- Monitors & evaluates operation to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in distribution of staff and resources in areas of responsibility.
- Directs the establishment of departmental standards, guidelines and objectives and maintains other administrative processes such as budgeting and staffing to ensure proper planning, efficient operation of departments and successful achievement of resort goals.
- Maintains familiarity and awareness with state and federal environmental & health standards, OSHA regulations, childcare laws and state licensing, and ensures compliance. Keeps current on developing legislation that might impact our operation.
- Monitor inventory and order supplies as necessary.
RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY
- Protect the safety of self, co-workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests at all times.
- Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
- Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to the immediate supervisor.
- Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resort’s Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals.
- Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of yourself or others.
- Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Works with the Senior Manager to supervise a seasonal day care staff of up to seven members and a summer day camp of up to six members. Provide feedback to staff and Senior Manager regarding staff performance.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Desire to work with toddlers and school aged children
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in early childhood education, child development or related field
- 1 years experience overseeing and implementing child and/or infant programming or a combination of education and experience.
- Wyoming State Infant Toddler Credential preferred, will be required upon employment (if needed)
- Must provide a physician’s statement of health and have a TB test or assessment performed
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must pass criminal background check
- Must have knowledge of laws and legal issues involving childcare
- Maintains composure in high stress situations

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must possess current child/infant CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Must possess & maintain Infant/Toddler credential from the State of Wyoming.
WORK SCHEDULE
Due to the nature of the recreation industry, we are in operation seven days a week. This includes weekends and holidays. As the Manager overseeing the operations, the schedule will be 5 days a week (or 4 ten-hour days), but in the winter/summer our busy times are weekends and holidays. Flexible working hours may be required based on the business levels.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use manual dexterity to handle, feel, and operate vehicles, tools, and controls and reach with hands and arms. This individual is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities of this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to type, file, and lift objects often up to 50 pounds. The employee must be physically able to tolerate winter conditions, cold temperatures, summer conditions, wet conditions and warm temperatures.
